For the CACs who were once addicts, it is easy to tap into the mindset of a patient and help them in their time of need. Being able to relate to what an addict is going through puts you in a unique position. Having been on the other side, recovered addicts are able to have a special intuition that helps them truly succeed as CACs. Using your past addiction as a positive thing is a great way to reduce the shame that you may feel about this part of your life.
