To become a Certified Addiction Councilor, you must fulfill the following requirements:

CAT – Formally (CAC I)
High school diploma/GED

-Principles of Addiction Treatment (21 hours)
-Ethical Practice in Addiction Treatment (aka: Ethics I: Ethics and Jurisprudence) (14 hours)
-Culturally Informed Treatment (14 hours)
-Trauma Informed Care for Divers Populations (14 hours)
-Pharmacology I (14 hours)

-Group Counseling Skills (21 Hours) – Prerequisite: Addiction Counseling

-Motivational Interviewing (21 Hours) – Prerequisite: Addiction Counseling

Pass the National Exam – NCACI

Pass the Jurisprudence Exam

-Advanced Motivational Interviewing (14 hours) Prerequisite is Motivational Interviewing
-Professional Practice (7 hours)

CAC requirements with a Masters or Doctorate Degree in Behavioral Health Sciences:
