Here we have compiled some general information about the talented people who teach here at Odyssey. Some have pictures and we are compiling video clips of them as well so you can see a sample of their class work. If their info has a border around it, the picture is a link to their video clip. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division, Colorado Department of Health accredits all Odyssey Training instructors. In addition, some instructors are also credentialed with Domestic Violence or the Criminal Justice system.
Clarence M. Baskey, Ed.D.,LPC,CACIII,Approved Domestic Violence Offender Treatment Provider Dr. Baskey holds a Master of Divinity degree from Loyola University of Chicago, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Central Michigan University and a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University. He currently serves as trainer and Director of Anchor Counseling, Inc., a substance abuse treatment program with several locations in the Denver area. Dr. Baskey has over 20 years of experience as a trainer and offers his courses in a way that promotes enthusiastic learning opportunities. Steve worked as a primary therapist and supervisor on the inpatient, outpatient, and detoxification units at Presbyterian/St. Luke's treatment services for over a decade.He received a B.S. from Vassar and an M.S.W. from Adelphi University. Steve has years of experience training treatment professionals and is a certified trainer in Motivational Interviewing Techniques via William Miller and Stephen Rollnick Ms. Cardell holds a Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from the University of Colorado. She has a private practice treating severe anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia. Her specialty is working with dual diagnosis clients who have severe anxiety and substance abuse disorders.
Marla A. Corwin is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified addictions counselor. She is an Instructor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, at the University of Colorado's School of Medicine. She acts as Education coordinator for the Mountain Plains and Colorado AIDS Education and Training Centers. Marla worked for the School of Medicine, Division of Substance Dependence for 10 years, and was instrumental in helping establish Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) Special Services Clinic, a treatment facility for HIV-Infected substance dependent clients. In 1996 she piloted a program to provide substance abuse evaluators inside the Department of Social Services in order to provide the treatment services necessary to hasten family reunification. A long-time volunteer in hospice and other support programs for critically ill people, Marla has specialized in health promotion and bereavement therapy, as well as substance abuse services.
Dr. Del Castillo possesses two Masters degrees in Social Psychology and Public Administration and a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Public Affairs from the University of Colorado at Denver. He is the past Director of Centro de las Familias, a specialty clinic under the auspices of the Mental Health Corporation of Denver, and past Division Director of Special Populations for the same organization. He has 20 years experience in the substance abuse and mental health fields. As a national consultant, Dr. Del Castillo is sought out for his expertise in the area of cultural competency. Jessica Dunks received her Masters of Arts in Community Counseling from Adams State College in 1999, and her Elementary Educator Certification from Virginia Wesleyan in 1996. She has worked in community mental health and residential treatment settings for the last ten years, which has given her the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients and age groups. She began her CAC training in 2000 and received her CAC III in 2005. She most recently worked as the coordinator of the substance abuse program at El Pueblo…An Adolescent Treatment Community. She specializes in treating addictions and trauma and is EMDR level II certified. Jessica is a native of Southern Colorado, which gives her a unique understanding of the culture and people of that area. She currently resides in Pueblo with her husband, new baby, and four dogs. J. Michael Faragher, Psy.D. CACIII NCGCII Dr. Faragher has been in the addictions field for over 30 years. He received a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Dakota and his Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. Mike is currently the Director of Training and Development in the Problem Gambling Treatment and Research Center in the Counseling and Educational Services Clinic at the University of Denver. He is certified as a Level II National Certified Gambling Counselor by the National Council on Problem Gambling and is on the Advisory Council of the Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado. In the Counseling Psychology Graduate Program at the University of Denver, Mike teaches Cognitive Behavior Therapy and the Seminar in Addiction Treatment. He also teaches Counseling Children and Adolescents in the Child, Family and School Psychology Graduate Program at the University of Denver. Mike teaches Abnormal Psychology, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Group Dynamics and Treatment of Substance Abuse in the Applied Psychology and Counselor Education Graduate Program at the University of Northern Colorado. He taught the graduate level Addictions class at the University of Colorado at Denver for 4 years and was Director of the Center for Addiction Studies and Chair of the Human Services Department at Metropolitan State College before retiring from MSCD after serving as Interim Associate Dean and Dean of the School of Professional Studies for three years. Laurence M. Freedom, M.Ed., CAC III, LPC Mr. Freedom is the owner and director of the Freedom Center an outpatient addiction treatment program in Arvada. Laurence carries 20 years of addiction counseling experience working in all different phases of the treatment process. Laurence has reached a high level sophistication with his counseling work and has synthesized his experience and knowledge into class material that works! Laurence present's challenging material and technical expertise in a direct, easy to understand format that is applicable for many counseling populations. Laurence also adds his sense of humor as well as his sensitivity, making him a trainer that is fun, easy to understand and down to earth. Ms. Green's professional background includes over 20 years of counseling, training and consulting. She leads workshops, classes and groups in the U.S. and Canada. In her private practice she specializes in life transitions, creativity enhancement, enriching communications and intimacy in relationships, and recovery from sexual trauma and depression. Ms. Green has had a varied artistic background and currently paints. She believes everyone can IMAGINE*RISK*CREATE(trademark). Warren Humble, MA, LPC, CACIII, NCACII Warren has served as the director of White River Counseling for over 23 years. He has extensive experience in providing treatment and supervision in the addiction and behavioral health fields. As an ADAD approved trainer for over 15 years he has provided training to programs throughout Colorado for counselors, humans service Organizations, and business groups.
Sharon Huntoon, BA, MAC, CACIII, LPC Ms. Huntoon has been the Director of the M.W.S.E.(women seeking empowerment) counseling center in Lafayette CO for he past six years. Prior to that Sharon worked at the Boulder County Safe house for nine years. She serves as an expert witness as well as providing court ordered evaluations for substance abuse and domestic violence offenders. Sharon has presented workshops on domestic violence and substance abuse to numerous community organizations and treatment programs. Sharon is a compassionate and committed counselor with a wealth of professional experience. Cassandra is a licensed Psychotherapist, Addictions Counselor, Consultant, Trainer, and the director of the Center for Dynamic Change. More interestingly, she is a redheaded Libra (the scales), which explains why she is so passionate and enthusiastic about Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Dialectics is defined as the "synthesis of two contradictions into a higher truth". DBT balances radical acceptance with the technology of change via cognitive behavioral techniques. Cassandra modules DBT technique with her humor, mindfulness, compassion and gentle irreverence. Check out her web site at www.dynamicYOUyes.com Doris Kruse, MAC, CCJS, CACIII Ms. Kruse, retired 10-30-00 as Director of Running Creek Counseling Service, Inc. she is also the founder of that program. R.C.C.S. is an outpatient alcohol drug, DUI program and a , Domestic Violence perpetrator Program. Doris served as the Director for thirteen years. During her 25 years as a therapist in Colorado, she has worked in the department of Corrections as well as all phases of outpatient care and inpatient treatment in two hospital programs. She teaches Alcohol/Drug Counselor Certification classes in several states, as well as some Domestic Violence classes. She is well known for a lively interactive teaching style. Ms. Kruse is the 1997 recipient of the Bonnie Forquer award. Reo N. Leslie, Jr., D.Min., LMFT, LPC, NCC, ACS, RPT-S, CAC III Reo is the Founder, CEO, and School Director of the Family Therapy/Play Therapy Institute, a school for mental health professionals seeking Colorado licensure and professional certification. Dr. Leslie has been counseling, teaching, supervising, and consulting on the post-masters level since 1977. Evelyn Leslie, M.A., RPT, CAC III Evelyn is the Assistant Director and Senior Faculty at the Family Therapy/Play Therapy Institute, a school for mental professionals seeking Colorado licensure and professional certification. Mrs. Leslie has been counseling, teaching, supervising, and consulting on the post-masters level since 1994.
Ms. Stroh has a graduate degree with a concentration in conflict management. She has worked in that field since 1985 and has extensive experience as an instructor in the college setting, with inmates, faculty members and legal personnel.
Isabelle is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Play Therapist and Certified Brennan Healing Science Therapist with a private practice in Colorado. She is the Director of the Body Beloved Center which offers individual, couples, family, and group support for adolsecents and adults who struggle with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image. She is the co-founder of the Boulder County Eating Disorders Coalition, a group committed to education, risk reduction, and referral information. She is the creator and President of The Habit Experts, a company dedicated to creating products and services to help people with painful habits, including eating, substance abuse, relationship, and spending habits. She is also a published writer on health and spiritial issues; has hosted an Internet show on healing; and leads workshops and trainings natinally on eating disorders, disordered eating, health and spiritual issues. She speaks three languages, including French, English, Spanish. Colleen graduated from University of Denver in 1994 with a Master’s in Social Work. She received her LCSW in 1997 and her CAC III in 1996/LAC in 2005. She has worked primarily with adolescents with behavioral and addiction issues while at Larico/Turning Point and with mental health and dual diagnosis issues in adolescents and adults while she was at Mountain Crest/PVHS in Fort Collins Colorado. She is a trainer at both the Turning Point and Odyssey Training Centers. Dr. Wingfield is currently an affiliate Facility Member at Regis University where she teaches Psychology and Counseling Courses. She Developed and teaches a Domestic Violence Counselor Training curriculum at the University of Southern Colorado. Dr. Wingfield has been a practicing Counselor since 1975 with Delinquent Youth, Families with Child Abuse and Neglect Issues, Children from all Dysfunctional family types, and Domestic Violence Victims, Child Witness / Victims, and Perpetrators. She has designed and implemented programs that address these issues. Dr. Wingfield provided consultation in Program Design, Development, and Evaluation to prevention programs for At-Risk Youth. Dr. Wingfield has a Masters of Art's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of West Florida (1975), and Doctor of Education Degree in Counselor education from the University of Northern Colorado (1993). |
